Hi Paige,
Playing around on your site and read your blogs re the crazies who were against Obama's speech--totally agree w/you...these are nut cases who simply do not want an African American president and will continue to do anything to bring him down...i think it is just beginning....
Agree about the technology at our school...i still have 5 non-working computers and alpha smarts that are gathering dust after sitting there for 10 years....been told i need to write down seriall numbers and put in a request for removal....

love your site..so much work! Cathy

Firstly, thank you for reading my blog and for responding. :)

Secondly, I am not sure if I feel better or worse hearing that my district isn't the worst. I think I will go with the feeling of disappointment that there are just too many places that don't get it.

Let's just hope that "we" can turn things around. Even baby steps are better than nothing I suppose.

I teach in the 4th largest school district in CA and we are not allowed much leeway in the use of technology except as directed by our tech people. We cannot have our own software, it must all be held by the school tech and loaded from "oz," as I call it. I can no longer buy Apple products, even with my own grant money, as the district has contracts with HP and Microsoft. All computers will be laptops, and student computers will be HP notebooks. This all makes for teaching with technology harder than it should be.
